Mbale district health team has designated Mbale school of nursing as an isolation center for patients suspected to have covid-19.
This follows Ministry of health directive for all regional referral hospitals to find space to contain at least 20 patients suspected to have the virus.
During an emergency meeting held on Wednesday with District Health Officers (DHOs) and other health experts at the Mbale District health office, the Nursing school was unanimously agreed upon to act as the district isolation center.
So far 14 corona virus cases have been confirmed in the country including an infant and the patients are undergoing treatment at the national treatment center in Entebbe.
During the health emergency meeting, it was also agreed that District Health Officers of other districts within Bugisu subregion to identify their respective isolation centers and contain their suspects to avoid movements that may cause the spread of the disease.
Incase of any confirmed case, the respective districts will then use hospital vehicle to transport the patient to Mbale center where they can later be taken to Entebbe treatment center.
While addressing the Nation at 8:00pm on Wednesday, H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni requested government departments to avail vehicles to the district health offices so as to help in transporting patients if any confirmed.
