While presenting the findings at the dialogue attended by Ministry of health officials, the World health organization representative in Uganda, District Health officers and heads of several heath organization, UYAHF’s Program Director Apio Winnie, revealed that girls are either lured or coresed to have sex at an early age.

The study was carried out in over 9 health facilities and several communities across districts of Mbale, Butaleja and Tororo.

Ms. Apio explained that in these areas, there are high rates of teenage pregnancies and maternal deaths due to low uptake of family planning services and poor health services.

She stressed the need for duty bearers to consider issues that affect the sexual reproductive health of the youth and adolescent since they form the biggest part of the country’s population.
