Local residents struggle to put of flames that engulfed the Military General's Apartment
Fire has eviscerated an apartment belonging to a top UPDF officer and the Deputy coordinator of Operation Wealth Creation (OWC) Lt Gen. Charles Angina.
The fire that gutted Angina's Mbale based bungalow is alleged to have been triggered by a gas cooker.It is reported that a caretaker of the General’s apartment failed to manage a gas cooker he was using to make his night meal.
After the intense explosion from the gas cooker, the flames scattered and fell on some 30 drums of alcohol that where stored in the building hence intensifying the blaze.
The blaze started at around 8:30 pm and the fire brigade together with the local community where seen struggling with heavy water pipes and sand to put it off.
The Mbale fire brigade team said that when they arrived at the scene, they found heavy fire with thick flames had covered the building and it took them up to 11pm to completely put the fire off.No casuality was reported but property worth millions were destroyed.
